The NDIS & us.

So your NDIS plan has some funding available for a support worker/s, that’s great! But what now?

With so many independent workers and support providers available, it can be challenging to find the right provider, know where to start, and what to look for.

That’s where we step in

3- Availability & Capacity

A support provider is of no use to you if they aren’t available when you need them. Consider how frequently you require support, do you require a support worker on certain days? Understanding what will work for you will help you to determine if a support provider is a good fit.

4- Consider what sort of support worker would be a good fit

Depending on your needs, you could spend a lot of time with your support worker. As such, knowing what qualities you’re looking for in a support worker is a good idea.

Every NDIS participant has the right to choose & control when it comes to who provides them support. Finding a support provider who is right for you is about choosing a person or business that will meet your unique individual needs according to your plan. It’s about finding a provider who understands what your goals are, believes in the importance of you achieving those goals; and is willing to provide as much support as necessary to have you achieve those goals.
.

Here are some considerations when choosing a provider:

1- Location

Of course, location is a huge factor in narrowing down your support options. To get started, it is helpful to use Google search to find any service providers in your general area.

2- Know what your support needs are:

There are plenty of support providers who offer a range of support services including personal care, respite, community access and domestic assistance. But there are also providers who offer specific services, perhaps the provider has the ability to provide Supported Independent Living (SIL) services, and have teams of staff on hand to provide 24-hour care. It can be difficult to know exactly what you need from support, if in doubt, it is always a good idea to contact your support coordinator.
